Leverage is King, Queen––the whole family!

Success, even against the greatest foe, is possible. It all depends on where you place the leverage.

A strategy is about many things, but leverage is perhaps the most important.

It dictates the terms of engagement and, in many ways if indeed there is engagement at all. 

Rarely are opposing sides matched perfectly. One will always be more significant in size than the other. One will be more agile than the other. 

Leverage comes into play in everyday situations from the classroom to the boardroom.

And it is on the determination of where your fulcrum lies that success rests.

All this elementary physics talk is interesting, but what's the point! 

Your fulcrum dictates where your focus should be.

There is no one-size-fits-all.

For Microsoft, the fulcrum is sales and distribution; for Google–software engineers; for Netflix or Slack–product.

For Amazon, its customer experience.

From inception, Amazon decided that customer experience would be the fulcrum upon which it deploys all levers. And we know how that went!
