Monetization Playbook #16: The map and the territory.

The map is not the territory.

Dwight D Eisenhower remarked that plans are useless, but planning is essential.

We readily accept that even the best maps are imperfect. They are merely a representative reduction of the territory at a point in time and not the region itself through time. 

The map–or for our purposes–the monetization plan–should thus be used as a compass.

A compass to guide the direction of revenue travel while highlighting possible bumps in the road. 

An extract from the ‘exactitude of science’ reminds us of the need to zoom out.
